I wanted to talk a little more about the Celtics and basketball in general. What a great way to end a great season. I would probably say it was one of the better seasons on a whole since I was a kid watching Michael Jordan’s every move and seeing him dominate an entire league.
We saw so many great teams this year, every one from the Hornets to the Blazers stepped up this year, making the play off race in the west one of the best ever. Just to come out on top in the west was like winning a championship in its self.
I was so happy to see Kevin Garnett win a ring after sticking it out with the Wolves for so long and not getting any where except the lottery.
I think we learned a lot about wanting something so badly ant not giving up the hope that one day you will achieve your goal. Garnett was the hardest playing, and most passionate player in the league, I’m just glad he finally got his ring.
In other basketball news, I want to see what kind of player Kobe Bryant is going to become. He was so close to getting the credit that he thought that he has deserved and most importantly he was coming out Michael Jordan’s shadow. Just to fall horribly short in the finals. He can either look at this in two ways or react in two ways. He can become a shell of his former self and jump off the top the Staples Center or he will use it as fire to become an even better player and team mate. I think now the Jordan comparisons will stop or at least they should. No other player will ever be able to this again or the way that he did it. So let’s see if Kobe can finally create his own legacy.
One last thing, if you truly love basketball then you must read this mans column. He is probably one of the funniest sports writers of our time. Not to mention he has had a great five or six years of sports. His name is Bill Simmons, also known as the sports guy. He is the biggest die hard sports fan, he’s from Boston, so of course he is obsessed with all of the Boston teams, Especially the Celtics. So the column I’m linking to is him talking about the Celtics and his dad. I have a good feeling Ill be talking about my own friend Steve like this when the Dallas Mavericks finally get their own championship. He has renewed his season tickets every year no matter how the Mavs did the year before. He is a true fan of the Mavs. Hopefully I will be able to go to a game next year. I know it kills him when he has to give one up. But you will not be hearing me complain. Especially when I’m cheering from his seats!
